You know what they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

His motive might've been benign, but considering all he's done, I seriously doubt that he'll even get as much as say a mention on the wall of ANBU HQ (Think of the wall of remembrance that the CIA has in its own building, it's to honour those agents who have fallen in the course of duty, but who cannot be named due to operational security reasons).

I seriously doubt that his name will be included on the cenotaph, as was done with say Hayate Gekko, the proctor killed by Baki during the Chunin Exam Arc.

Spoiler Even if say the Third had assigned him the mission to find and eliminate Madara, when he was part of ANBU. The destruction of the Uchiha clan, and therefore the damage done to the Konoha police force, and who knows what other actions (vs other villages) during the course of his mission. And that's also ignoring his battles with members of the Konoha forces, like Kakashi and Sasuke, this during the attempt to kidnap Naruto. I seriously doubt that his name will be included on the cenotaph, as was done with say Hayate Gekko, the proctor killed by Baki during the Chunin Exam Arc.
