Actualy, f*** in Japanese is at about the same level as damn in English, and shit isn't a bad word at all (along with damn). Just something you kinda figure out after watching a show that's directed at 8 year olds and hear them swear all the time. Otherwise, parents would be like "
you aren't watching this anymore. "
Subs are way better, in my opinion. The Death Note and Bleach dubs are the best I've seen, and those are barely tolerable to watch (in my opinion). And with subs you pick up the language right quick.
