Is Avatar considered a Anime?

What is anime? Is it cartoons that you see on T.V or is it cartoons made in Japan. I personally think that Avatar is a anime. I don't really know the definition of anime. Also if the definition of anime really is a cartoon made in Japan then I would catagorize Avatar to be a American Anime.

Well to me I think an anime is a cartoon that was made in Japan, so to me I dun think Avatar is an anime UNLESS a company turns it into a Jap Cartoon.

I classify anime as being made in Japan, cartoon is anywhere else but Japan. Techinally i think they are the same thing just named differantly.

If it was made in any other country apart from Japan, its a cartoon

Anime is a Japanese animation, so every animated series created in Japan is considered anime. Avatar is an US production, so it's a cartoon. But it resembles very well the anime genre, so you can call it what you want. Technically, it's a cartoon.

Well,

Avatar is a pretty cool show, regardless what theyc all it, even though it has a more adventure/comical factor to it, yet some parts where kissing is involve or when life decisions are made make you think of it more than just a cartoon.

Hey, who died and crowned you king Avatar is an Anime in my opinion its like saying Pokemon is a cartoon when the animation in Avatar and Pokemon are quite similar
