Default Gungrave

Well i know a gungrave review has been done already but i feel obligated to put my 2 cents in (it was that amazing)

Now i want to get you in the mood of this anime, first i want you to think of your best friend someone who has always been there for you, always supported you, went out of there way to help you.

Now imagine that that person, whom you regard so highly....killed you, ended your life not on accident, but because you were in the way.

Hello and welcome to Gungrave

Harry Macdowel, and Brandon Heat have been friends ever since they met up as kids in an orphanage (incase you dont get it they are orphans....) They eventually got out of the orphange together with a few friends and they grew up together in the slums where crime is an everyday thing and life is thrown away like a piece of trash. This harded life made their friendship even stronger. Things are rough but Brandon, Harry and all their friends are enjoying life.

Until things started to change a gang war with a rival leads to the death of Harry, and Brandon's friends and the death of the man who raised Brandon's love Maria. The man who raised Maria was an Ex-member of the Mafia and the Mafia's leader Big Daddy who was a great friend to the man takes her under his wing. In a twisted turn of events Brandon and Harry join the Mafia lead by Big Daddy in hopes of climbing up the ladder to the top, for their freedom. (Brandon actually joined to support Harry, and to be closer to Maria)

Eventually things go sideways and Harry becomes twisted by power and kills his best friend Brandon. Brandon who knew of all the evil Harry had done to rise in power could not bring himself to kill Harry...but Harry could do what Brandon could not. Brandon Heat who had known all of what Harry had done, made secrect plans to come back from the grave, Hence his nickname Beyond The Grave. Now i know your going WTF HE CAME BACK FROM THE GRAVE!?!?! well i will let the anime explain how it is done because it really takes away from the show if i say that. Point is now Brandon Heat is back and he wants revenge, or does he? but for now Brandon's goal is to protect a child of someone he loved.

All in all this anime was amazing and the author was brilliant. This show also has plenty of action but thats not what this is about I dont recomend this anime because you will watch it or else i will kill you in your sleep

Anyway as far as sound and graphics they were alright but not great 8/10
Story line i gave a 3829472409271481237 outta 10

this is my first review hope it helps and plz post comments 1- so i can see how i did, 2- if you think im wrong so i can track u down and murder u

Heh glad you didn't take it that bad :p

Anyways i'll quote a website but first some personal advice, while doing a review try not to get too much into the subject you'll end up killing the plot for the reader and make him uninterested after it's kinda as if i speak about pokemon cards passionately or something. bad example but meh anyways enjoy this.

Quote:
  1. After you have selected your Anime, get familiar with its context. By this I mean, before you even see the movie, get to know a little about it. What have the actors and director worked on before? Maybe check out some of their past work. Are they Oscar winners? Are they known for a certain style? Is the movie based on a book or an historical event? Is it a remake or a sequel? Look into those kind of things. All of this information will help you understand the movie better. You'll pick up on details, allusions, trademarks of the actor or director, and probably have more insight into important story elements. You'll be able to tell readers how it lived up to the original, say, or the book. These are the things that help a critic offer a solid opinion that is of interest to the fan.
  2. After you see the movie, formulate a specific opinion in one sentence. Your job is to give an opinion of the movie. Ultimately, this may come down to a "thumbs up" or "three stars out of five." But you want to have a specific thesis to drive your critique. For example, "I didn't like this comedy" becomes "The story had funny moments but it went on too long." "This horror movie is good" becomes "This horror movie works because it builds suspense right up until the end." So, try to find that very specific opinion that will be the foundation of your review.
  3. Create a good lead. You want your reader to be interested in what you have to say. Grab her in that first or "lead" paragraph in one of several ways: Start with a great quote from the movie, and explain how it reflects the movie; refer to the reputation of the actor or director and compare it to how he or she did in this movie; compare this movie to another well-known film in a few sentences or two; explain what your expectation was, and then if it was fulfilled or not. Then end that first paragraph with your opinion statement.
  4. Recap briefly, but don't give away anything big. If you've read professional reviews, you know they always include a little bit of recap. Some readers like to know what they're getting into before they lay down their money for a ticket. You can tell people the basic premise of the movie. In fact, you should give them the basic premise, and tell them how the story builds, but don't give away key moments, especially not the ending! And keep it brief. Then get to reviewing.
  5. Back up your main opinion with specifics. The readers now know you think "This comedy had funny moments but went on too long." It's time for you to prove it. Talk about how the teen actors had good timing like they did in that other movie. Talk about how the writers did a great parody of that famous film. But then add that there were too many scenes involving the family or the boyfriend. Talk about the fact that there were multiple endings and all of them were long. Use specifics to make your readers see you're right.
  6. Be interesting. Just because this is a review doesn't mean it's got to be dull. From lead to ending paragraph, make the review engaging, using metaphors, analogy, specific adjectives and adverbs to create the images you're looking for. But also be concise. A review isn't a place for long diatribes or flowery prose. Then again, where is the place for long diatribes and flowery prose?
  7. Be honest in your appraisal. Your reader and the work you're critiquing both deserve an honest opinion, right? So even if you HATE that actor or LOVE that actress, be sure not to hold back your true opinion of the film. Have some standards in mind. A comedy should be funny, a horror movie should be scary, etc.; judge the movie against those standards, not against any pre-existing opinions you may have. It will make the review more valuable to the reader and honest writing is always best, isn't it?

That's pretty much what he did.... you're giving away the plot and all, a review is more of a global appreciation amiright?

Want gungrave created by the same guy who made trigun, or am I imagining things? Anyway trigun was classic, and if thats the case gungrave is deffintly worth a look in.

Btw Chaoticflaw, ur review looked promising but I stopped reading due to the spoilers as bob pointed out (especially since I havent watched it yet lol). But that doesnt mean u shouldnt do reviews keep goin at it man, ppl need good reviewers
