Elfen Lied
The world is a different place than we thought. Genetically altered human beings called Diclonius are around, and boy are they deadly! They each carry two pairs of psychic, invisible arms and hands called vectors. Easily recognized by horns growing from their head, Diclonius' vectors vibrate at extremely high frequencies, acting like lasers, cutting through anything with ease, reaching up to two meters. These arms can also interact with objects and throw them at high speeds.
Diclonius are captured and pronounced dead soon after their birth. However, they are actually kept at a secret island facility, where they are experimented on and brutally tortured.
One such Diclonius is named Lucy. Different than her fellow Diclonius, Lucy became a cold-blooded murderer as a child and has since killed anyone who stood in her way. She escapes from the facility and all hell breaks lose. She ends up living in a house with a young man named Kotah and his female, incestual cousin. Together, the three make a sort of family.
The facility sends wave after wave of people, including other Diclonius, to capture or kill Lucy. But what they don't know is that Lucy has another side; the lovable, clumsy, adorable Nyu. Lucy's/Nyu's past comes back to haunt Kotah and the others, sending things spiralling out of control. All the pieces of the past Kotah had forced himself to forget, the memory of his father's and sister's murder, come back.
A horror series, mixed with comedy, romance, and gore like you've never seen, you'll be laughing, screaming, and even crying as it all unfolds in Elfen Lied. Using an original musical score in Latin, this bloody series will keep you coming back for more. You'll probably be saying something like, "Oh, that's disgusting! Rewind it, let's see it again."
Latin version of the opening song:
"Os, iusti meditabitur sapientiam,
Et lingua eius loquetur iudicium,
Beatus vir qui suffert tentationem
Quia cum probatus fuerit accipiet coronam vitae
Kyrie, ignis divine, eleison,
O quam sancta, quam serena
Quam benigna, quam amoena
O castitatis lilium"
This is the actual english translation:
"The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom,
and his tongue speaks what is just.
Blessed is the man who endures temptation
For when he has overcome the trial
He shall receive the crown of life.
Oh Lord, Fire Divine, have mercy!
Oh, How Holy! How Serene!
How Kind! How Pleasant!
Oh Lilly of Chastity!"
During the last episode, there will be a conversation going on between the two main characters, with a different version of Lilium, called Saint playing in the background:
"Os iusti meditabitur sapientiam
Et lingua eius loquetur iudicium
Beatus vir qui suffert tentationem
Quoniam cum probatus fuerit
Accipiet coronam vitae
Kyrie, fons bonitatis
Kyrie, Ignis Divine, Eleison
O quam sancta, quam serena
Quam benigna, quam amoena
Esse virgo creditur
O quam sancta, quam serena
Quam benigna, quam amoena
O castitatis lilium"
And this is the english translation:
"The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom,
And his tongue shall speak judgment.
Blessed is the man who endures temptation,
For when he has been tried,
He shall receive the crown of life.
O Lord, fountain of goodness
O Lord, o Divine Fire, have mercy!
O how sacred, how fair,
How kind, how delightful
The maiden is believed to be.
O how sacred, how fair,
How kind, how delightful,
O lily of chastity."
