Default Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (based on the first couple of episodes only, updated versions will come up soon.

I recently picked up watching this anime after a while of watching several action packed fantastical series like Gungrave. For itself, Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (KGNE for short) provides a wonderful breather in that it portrays the ordinary life of the ordinary teenager and high schooler.

The series starts out with the protagonist, Takayuki Narumi, a regular high school student. Unbeknownst to him, he has a secret admirer in the name of Haruka Suzumiya who is a year below him. The first episode thus concerns itself with Takayuki's other female friend, Mitsuki Hayase, who also is Haruka's best friend, setting them up alone in a park to have a date. When this happens, Takayuki agrees and things seem to be all set. However, Takayuki in later episodes doesn't fully understand the role of the boyfriend and finally alienates Haruka in his seemingly uncaring manner. However, it is due to Haruka's hurt and the efforts of Mitsuki that he realizes Haruka for who she is and professes his love. They make love, but during this time, Mitsuki, a champion swimmer also starts developing feelings for Takayuki.

Takayuki, now firmly entrenched as a boyfriend realizes his commitments and doesn't realize Mitsuki's feelings, whereas Mitsuki feels guilty about everything. However, on the day of Mitsuki's birthday, she persuades Takayuki to buy her a ring, with the consequence of him being late to a date with Haruka. Because of this, Haruka is unwittingly hit by a car and goes into coma.

Takayuki suffers post traumatic shock, and is overwhelmed by feelings of guilt; which also surrounds Mitsuki. Then the series really begins after episode 3.

A couple of years later...Takayuki is seeing Mitsuki and living together with her. Haruka is still in coma. Takayuki has gotten a job at a restuarant and Mitsuki is a sales attendant. Then Haruka comes out of the coma with retrograde amnesia, and cannot remember anything a few minutes ago. Her family, Takayuki, and Mitsuki have to conceal the fact that 3 years have passed. And here the tension and problems really start.

This series is a wonderfully touching anime, with plenty of nice characters. It is a definite pleasant break from all of the fantastical series out there. More to come!

I'm watching this right now and all I have to say is that it's probably the best anime I've ever seen. I've only watched three episodes and it's so good that I almost want to turn away from the screen and not watch it !!!

Naga is right, this series is bloody depressing,

It's a good anime because it's realistic, and I felt quite sorry for Mitsuki all the way through the series, I suggest to anyone to watch the series, unless you don't want to spend a week with a dark cloud in your mind (I do!).

No the most depressing anime that i've seen is Saikano,
it has a great story but it's really sad...
you guys haven't added that on the site yet,
but i don't really recommand it to people who like happy story lines and stuff
i've watched it with Max and we were both at the end sort of uhm.. down
but the story is pretty good so..
