Default America v Britain

As you know, i keep things short, and straight to the point.

America and Britain have been Allies, for god knows how long. However, the society's, although western, and very different. Coming from a UK prospective, Britain makes fun to america constantly, and America does Visa versa, and makes fun of the British just as much.

Why do you think that is?

Please Discuss.

Al Murray

America and Britain both suck, and they bicker with each other to determine who is the number one slime bag.

Nationalism is a sad point of view.

National Pride to a certain extent is not a bad thing. My parents immigrated to britain, and its because of that, that i am sitting here now with oppertunity to be successful. I am not talking about being an extremist nationalist or facist, just that you should be thankful to the country that has given you so many oppertunities. Oppertunities that people in other countries do not have.

As for the topic, I think its because we are seen in the world as similar countries, as Watari proved. We make fun of each other to show that there is a difference between us.

I don't believe national pride is bad at all. there is nothing worng with being proud of who you are, how you were raised, the opportunities you are given etc.

It's national supremecy that seems wrong to me. Thinking that your country is better than everyone else's and trying to make every other country the same as yours. Everyone, no matter where you are, has different opinions, religions, ethics, personalities. We shouldn't force our views on anyone who doesn't want them.

I think this is mostly just done for laughs. I watched that Al Murray video you posted, and even though I'm American I still found it to be funny.

I think its good that two countries can poke fun at each other without being offended. Its the same with ur close friends, I can sit and exchange bouts of abuse with my friends without anyone of us getting offended. Its a sign of mutual respect (or disrespect lol), anyways its a positive thing

Hell most states make fun of other states like rivals. Such as Indiana vs Kentucky. You should look up some of those jokes.

I live in America.

Am I proud to be an American? Not at all.
I'm associated with the large percentage of ignorant people known as "Americans".

The US is steadily going downhill.

It surely is a lot like Germany and the Netherlands, or Germany and France, Gouvernments have best diplomatic relationships but the people of both countries make fun of each other. Well, you can't help but hating the French, I think they're up to something...

You know who else might be up to something. The Canadians, I want to move there but there so quite. You never hear anything about them. * wonders* what are they doing with all that land?

Canada has nice roads... About only cool thing they have, other than cute Canadian girls.
