Say that the sun were to explode in exactly one year. and they announced it publicly. do you think we could survive without it. what do you think the people of earth would do. i just listed some example questions. please go into as much detail as possible
in all honestly, if we had a year and the sun was to explode, everyone would die.
they could try make a space ship but it would carry little amount of ppl and wouldnt be able to do much at all and they die soon cause of lack of food and that.
unless there is super techologys out there we do not yet know of yet (well there is some but thats not really that secret)

Current tech-wise? We'd be toast, plain and simple. (Just look at the material currently available on the sun's current life cycle. Its expansion would consume our world. Mars would be turned into a Mercury like planet, iirc, etc.)
Unless, there's some nice aliens out there capable of undoing the damage that our current level of cryo tends to cause. And that's about the best case scenario. Sleeper ship with folks loaded into cryo tubes, with a nuclear power plant to keep everything running.
Not sure, if it would have enough speed to outrun the expansion, but that's another issue.
As for what people would do? Riot, start wars.. End of times stuff.

Reason: Used some incorrect terms, fixed that.
I think there is no chance of survival. It takes years for satellites to get to the edge of the solar system, so think of how long it would take to escape the blast radius of a supernova...

after stars explode alot of them become black holes, i dont think a sleeper ship could get away if that happens.
Current predictions, iirc, about our sun have it, turning into a red giant as opposed to a black hole. But even then I'm not sure that the ship would have enough speed.
And having put that aside, current cryo tech causes considerable damage to human cells. We have the tech to freeze someone, but reviving them and not having them keel over right away? That we can't do, so you'd have to rely on an outside force for that, and that too is a long shot at best.
Our best shoot is to freeze ourself and send us in outer space floating and w8 for other "humans" /aliens to find and unfreeze us.
And i hope they have anime there -_-
or maybe with the cryo idea, we would set a timer to unfreeze us at a certain point in time just in case nothing could open the chamber.
We don't have the tech for that right now, afaik. If, you attempt to defrost someone who's been in cryo they will suffer irreparable tissue damage and die shortly after from the shock.

Yeah, even if we tried to create the technology there wouldn't be enough time to get it in a working state.
And a side point:
Also black holes are created because of the constant struggle between the pressure from the energy of the star and gravity, which in most cases gravity wins and the star collapses and turns into a black hole. But in some cases (the star would have to be at least 150 times the size of the sun), the pressure gets so great that the heat of the core gets intensely hot, and the pressure from the star exceeds the gravity's push and the star gets totally annihilated. This is thought to be the case with the supernova SN2006GY. http://www.popsci.com/military-aviat...-boom-universe

The sun may not be big enough to create a super nova then a black hole but...even if the sun is not as big but it could be possible that it could create a black hole.
Now I haven't even said that with out the sun humans can't survive. The coldness of space will make us sooooo cold and most likely turn into another ice age.
But...that wouldn't happen so don't worry since the sun won't "explode" for a few million years O.o
