huh? 6 on EST time?
i live in Michigan and it started 9 and ended at 11.
anyways for the debate. it failed. McCain and Obama basically saying look at the record for what i voted for. then other guys brags his own awesome vote. then they start bitching each other with "no that's not true" "that is not what i said" basically this repeated.
this debate told me that McCain loves going war and waste money and Obama loves making new "plans" and waste money too. at least they agreed government is out of control about spending except when they become president they're going to do exactly the same thing
o yeah and they talked quite a bit about tax. how McCain wants to give tax free on corporates and Obama was against it and then fancy words followed up to convince people which one is right

Biden > Palin.
Palin was programmed to say stuff, and that's what she did - which she did well.
Biden did better. His little moment of almost tearing up won him the sympathy vote from Palin.

Well if you think anything will drastically change in this election or the next few, you're sadly mistaken.

The President does not have the power to change the country. It's not vested in the office, nor is it in the implied power (I'm a Political Science major btw). The President stands as a representative of the American people, and thus represents our standing, and interests in the world. There are other jobs but this is the most important in a global economy.

yet the president can decide to nuke the world, but ice you are right the president does not have all the power, especially with the economy. still it is your typical politics, dog eat dog until no one is left standing, I still want obama to win, because he does not have a war record and seems a lot smarter than McCain

probably tho, but most people just want him to win so he'll be the first black president.
that'd be awesome tho.

Truthfully speaking Im not much of a fan of presidents becuase they stand on there soap boxes thinking they're better and can do a lot better then the average man. Anything these presidents do can be accomplished by almost anyone if they try. I i'll vote for obama not because he can bring something to the table, solely because he can bring inspiration to the minorities that think they can't amount to nothing. If he wins they can jus say "If he did it WHY can't I"

exactly the reason why i want obama to win as well, he will bring a dawn of a new age were the presidency is not controlled by white old men

Its sad how far our country has fallen from the tree... These debates are a waste of time. In fact the candidates are a waste of life. When they get into office just going to be more bullshit than the last. All these big campaign ads get sponsored from somebody, and that somebody is going to want their back scratched in return, its bullshit. A presidential campaign should not be about popularity, it should be about the man or woman who will lead this country and keep us great. We should be focusing on issues like the drug problem in america, or unemployment, not spending billions of dollars on rebuilding iraq. We seem to be more worried about issues that are seemingly meaningless in my eyes at least instead of the ones that matter. Jobs, Healthcare, Drugs, even the Prison System.
Exodia out...

well who ever said democracy was perfect, but then again what could you expect from a country that values money more than anything ( it is a capitalist society, a if it were for some government control (not much now) we would still be living in the age of the tycons and monopolies ) in conclusion in the US is all about the money

One thing I like about Obama is his constant need to clarify the truth. He kept saying during the debate that: hey, I need to clear something up, that's only a partial truth, and the truth is... Some people might have interpreted his going over his time limit just to defend himself in the debate as clumsiness, but I think that it's definitely tactful. There are a lot of Americans who are sick of getting lied to by politicians and, not that it would ever stop with Obama, if and when he gets elected, but I think there are a lot of people who believe in Obama because of his incessant need to do thinks like debunk false rumors, clarify half-truths, and so forth. It gives him a sort of moral authority and people start to adamantly believe in the delusion that he could never lie. So if he wins, he might have a pretty high approval rating, at least during his first few years, and thus be able to get some things done. Possibly a good thing, possibly a bad thing... When Bush had a high approval rating, he got a lot done, although a majority of those things were decidedly "evil" and "fiendish" to some degree.
So even though the debate was funny in a lot of ways (Brokaw constantly reminding the candidates that even though its not his fault because they all signed off on the rules their time was up, McCain wandering around the stage getting in front of the cameras, McCain ranting about how expensive planetarium projectors are these days, watching both candidates try to get comfortable in those stools, which they never were, etc, etc--I was laughing my ass off at both of them quite a lot)... anyway, I think Obama got in an effective strategy by incessantly defending his record, and I think that this quality more than anything else is what's going to get him elected.
