Default [Review] The Dark Tower: Gunslinger

***As I really never reveiw things, some minor spoilers may follow, nothing that will ruin the book though***

The Dark Tower series, by Steven King is a Magnum Opus detailing the travels and quest of the last gunslinger: Roland Deschain.

The first book The Gunslinger opens with the sentance "The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed." Roland Deschain, the last of a group of people is chasing a mysterious man in a black cloak across the deserts of a post-apocalyptic world. For what reason he chases this man eludes us, but Roland's determination despited the harsh desert conditions is unwavering.

The novel details his trek across the desert as well as breif glimpses of the past. Along the way he meets a young boy named Jake who awoke in the desert in Rolands world with no memory of anything before. Roland takes this boy along with him on his chase for the Man in Black and becomes close. Each day they inch closer and closer to meeting the Man in Black and each day Roland grows closer to Jake.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It doesn't have much action or suspense to it but the mystery and want to know what happends really sucks you into it. I highly reccomend this book to any Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Stephen King fan
