Books I've Read, not including manga
OK! This is what im talking about! Let me pull out my list...
The Sword, The Ring, The Chalice trilogy by Deborah Chester
These books are awesome. It tells about a boy Dain who is an outcast because of his mixed blood, becoming the bitter rival of an arrogant prince, and finding out hes a long lost king. Too corny? How about the fact that the first meeting they have the prince chases him down trying to kill him from horse back and whipping him, then being possessed by a tainted evil sword, Dain riding Darbeasts, monstrous fire breathing mounts, battling mages, creatures that steal your soul, heresy, and all the while having to stay a virgin through the entire series....xD I give these a 4/5
The 7 book Deltora Quest by Emily Rodda
I remember reading these after the Diadem series. Nothing really compares to that, but this was a good try 3.5/5
The Exiles trilogy, the Dragon Prince trilogy, and the Dragon Star trilogy by Melanie Rawn
She is one of my heros. Basically put Salvatore and Eddings together....and give them boobs. 5/5 for great plot, character building and detail! She is also fairly sexual in her books, not overly, and not all the time, she saves it for just that one moment. I mean, talking about being caught in doggy-style with the princess in Exiles and a woman drugging a guy and raping him in Dragon Prince? Fine by me!
Iron Tower trilogy, Dragon Doom, Tales of Mithgar, The Dragonstone by Dennis L. McKiernan
The Iron Tower really reminded me of Lord of the Rings....Like in a scary way. Its not the same, and it is very different, but when you read it you just get that feeling. Great books though, I much prefer them to the LotR. 4/5
The 6 books of the Black Sword saga/ Elrics Saga by Micheal Moorcock
These took some getting used to. The story seemed to drag at places, but when it wasn't the story was just fine. Elric is simply complex. Hes easy to understand, almost impossible to explain. He wields a soul sucking sword that feeds him strength since without it hes pretty much a cripple, but with it hes strong enough to challenge the various Gods themselves! 2.5/5
The 6, and counting, book series of Rhapsody by Elizabeth Haydon
She is great with detail, sometimes overboard with it. Great storyline and great characters, though the main character, Rhapsody just grates on my nerves. Her husband is a dragon with a rage that could destroy a continent if someone hurts his wife or child, a guardian who could sunder the earth just to find her, another guy whos in love with her and him being the greatest hunter assassin the world has ever known, and shes a skilled warrior with a martyr complex, thinking everything needs to be fair and just peaceful and happy and how music can save the world and taking in all the children of the world as her own blah blah blah. If someone killed her, the books would be 5/5 but she brings it down to 4/5, unless your the ultra feministic type. I dont have a problem with womens rights at all, but in the middle of a bloody battle theres no room for lullabies!
The 4 book series of Bloodwinter, Springwar, Summerblood, Warautumn by Tom Deitz
This was a really well detailed and original series of using magic and how it affects things. 3.5/5
Living Real by James C. Bassett
How I WISH we had this kind of tech! This is all about virtual reality. Theres no real need for mailing system, tv, radio, or a computer, just hook your set up to the house and its everywhere. Go online and make and create anything you ever dreamed of. Reality is literally what you make of it, untill the main character finds out by mistake how to alter the way you see reality, making a mental reprogramming post that makes him the most wanted man in the world, and he barely knows what he did! 3.5/5
The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan
Wow, I thought this would go on forever. Seriously there was a time where I was only reading them to see when it would all just END. Good books though. 4/5
Sovereign Stone trilogy, The Chronicles trilogy, The Second Generation dualogy, The Lost Chronicles trilogy, by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
These are good books to read in your spare time but they take some getting used to, so its kinda slow unless your already interested in them. 3/5
Starlight and Shadows trilogy by Elaine Cunningham
An offshoot of Salvatore's series about the daughter of the high mage where Drizzt was born, and her journey to the upper world. 3.5/5
Servants of the Ark trilogy by Jonathan Wylie
I was kinda confused through the books, stumbling alittle bit but a pretty good read in your spare time. 3/5
The 7 books of Loremasters of Elundium by Mike Jefferies
I read these a couple of times, good books, you really sink into the story making you want to read more 4.5/5
The 7 book series of Harry Potter by JK Rowlings
Harry Potter. Do I really need to describe this? At first I really loved them then as time went on I sort of lost interest in them 3.5/5
Anything by R.A. Salvatore or David Eddings.
Wow, these authors have made so many great books describing them all would take a long LONG time. They are all great, every one of them, without exception. These, and Rawn, are the reason I wanted to become an author. 5/5!
The 11 book series Diadem series by John Peel
This is alot like the Harry Potter series, only they arent little kids, and life isnt so easy. OK, so Potter had an enemy who tried to kill him. Big deal. This book, almost the entire universe is after these 3 and their powers, which they dont know how to control. 1st book the guy who was helping them only did it so he could develop their powers to steal them for himself. He tried to drown them, throw them in a volcano, tons of things, and they had to think on their feet! Id like to see how Potter deals with swimming in lava.
To tell the truth, I only thought there were 6, and I just found out about the others today and I got extremely excited because these are really great books. They are really easy to read, fast reads, they are smaller then manga, but really pull you through them. Your going to want to get them 4 at a time, because when you wake up and start reading, your going to look up after your done and wonder why its night. 5.5/5 xD what can I say, Im kinda excited about the others >.>
ok, I think thats enough for now. I could probably think of some more but im tired, and you people will probably be shocked and reading for a LONG time with all the books I just showed you
