the japanese language really isnt that hard of a language to learn. The grammer is very simple, you dont even need to congugate the verbs for each participle (I, you, he, she etc.) you just need to congugate it for the tense (past, present future). Hiragana and katakana arent too hard to learn especially cuz its kinda easy to make up neumonic devices for them.

The onyl really difficult part about Japanese is learning the kanji

It's hard to learn when your main language is English and can speak fluent Korean.

I'm a few weeks deep in learning Japanese, and it doesn't come so easy for me.

I havent taken any of my lessons in a while from the online course i was doing cuz i just dont have the time. i caught on pretty easily.

And MSJ, this wouldn't have anything to do with the plan you posted in the topic about the Japanese govt cracking down on fansubs would it? [/badjoke]

Randmthotz try saying it's easy again when you have memorized over 1,000 words I mean litterly words like writing it out...

I didn't but I know there are many words that you have to memorize...and Japanese isn't like English with a ABC alphabeth. You can't just put a few of the 26 letters together to make one word. You just like draw lines and stuff to make words o.o

I tip my hat to those of you who wish to learn kanji; there are more than 2,000 characters used currently in Japan. You're all lucky, however, b/c some recent Chinese dictionaries contain 80,000 or more characters, but most of these are hardly used.

If "beats" as in easyer to learn then I agree but if you mean usefulness then I might have to disagree. Spanish, english, chinese, latin, are like the most useful languages to learn and japanese if your an anime fan / manga fan like us :O

^ Ben, I was talking about the difficulty of it. Russian (or so I heard from my language teacher) and Chinese are the most difficult languages to learn. lol
