Thanks, the background took about 15 to 20 min total time because I was mixing a few tutorials together, and the final touches about 10-15 minutes so the whole sig took about 35 minutes.

I like the dude in the sig and ya the colors are off. Don't be scared to use simpler fonts it's how you use them that make the text stand out. Looking at you bg I can assume you no how to use the smudge tool? instead of smudging random colors duplicate the render and smudge it all over the sigspace. Then lay the original on top. This is one way of making a bg. You can also use stocks which are whole pictures that aren't cutout like renders. I used a landscape stock for my bg.
I moved it around as to make sure it made sense. judgin by the robo's height and the angle you shouldn't be able to see the floor. See what i'm saying.
But if ya want to get better you need to see a lot of examples and see how, step by step, you can apply different techniques to bring your sigs out.
Hmm yeah I agree with Imusion, the colors seem off, but the smudging seems okay, you could experiment around with certain colors so it blends better. You could've also you some gradient over the BG and render so the colors are closer to each other. The eye thing in the side is a bit distracting of the focal itself, so I would work on the depth.
For your first sig I'll admit it's quite good, much better then my first sig.
actually this is one of the main tut I used for the background http://www.sigtutorials.com/tutorial...ct-smudge.html
basically it's three separate c4d smudged with a scattered kind of brush (basic explanation)
yep I forgot about the png until now.
And actually I just downloaded that and it has a lot of cool stuff I have yet to use. I used some of the c4d's in the package.
In the next one I make I want to make one with wireframes. Idk just to see how it look
Thanks for the advice!
Anymore comments?

A question. Is the render normally that shiny? O_o But anyways, it does look nice, it's just the background that makes me think of skittles and unicorn barf. XD Anyways, nice first try.

lol yeah the c4d's I used were a bit bright and did not go quite as well with the render (actually the render was that shiny) but I didn't know what render I would use. Anyways this one was an experiment so my second one should be a bit better with the whole color scheme.
haha skittles and unicorn barfXD

Here is a sneak peak on the second sig I'm working on.
It's another experiment, it didn't look good with text atm so I left it out for later.
The last step is I'll use some tech brushes and then add some text to finish.
But I haven't ever used tech brushes before so I'll see how it goes.^^
If I make more sigs at a continuous rate I'll probably make a new thread and put all of them there.
Comments?
Imo this one was a lot more advanced looking. This time I did not use any c4ds, just different grunge, abstract, and starry brushes, which I though turned out great.
The only thing is idk where to put text (like my name), any advice?
(Btw I'll just keep this one as it is after I figure out where to put my name and continue the tech brush thing on a copy)

Actually I had an earlier attempt a few months ago. The problem was I didn't really care how much time I put into it, so it didn't look so good.XD
But I guess I could of started seriously making them a couple months ago.
@ jing Yep on the second version of the second sig I plan to put a border, also I'll just add a border to this one while I'm at it.

Nice. Looks like you're getting the hang of it. I recommend learning how to use the pentool aswell.
You wanted to add text but that's not something you really have to do. But you can if you want to. Make sure it's not to big. If it were to big then it'd take away from the focal which is the gundam. You can put your name on it if you like but before that, go through the .psd files that you downloaded if you did, check some of those out. And get an idea of how text should be done. not to fancy and not to simple.
You said something about adding tech brushes. That's fine too but don't let it take away from the gundam that's your main focus.
As for the gundam it is somewhat hard to see. Duplicate the original and set it on top of the other layers. Go to Filter<Sharpen<Sharpen. This will do as it says shapen the image. Press Crl+F to do it again if you like. Ctrl+Alt+Z to go back. Now set thiis layer's opacity around 40%; whatever makes you happy.
One more thing. Try to keep your sig's height around 100 pixels. Mine are usually between 100 and 120.
And here's a smudging tutorial I recommend for beginners. Please take a look. It should give you a good idea on how to smudge a render effectively and how to use gradient maps. http://planetrenders.net/forums/inde...owtopic=161211
