Default Media Player and Codecs

This section seemed lonely, so I thought I may as well ask about a problem on my second computer
it's is a laptop with windows vista installed, and my problem is this:

Media Player will not recognize any file other then a .wmv, none.
I only have one cedec pack installed, so it's not a problem of conflict, and it plays all the movie files you would come across, I know this because I use it on my desktop which plays all my movie files just fine.

If anyone has some suggestions or needs more info please post.

Try using GOM Player.

www.gomlab.com
You can leave CCCP installed.

Well K-lite didn't solve the problem.

Guess I'll check out some 3rd party media players then.

I bet K-Lite can't play RealMedia.

I use Vista Codecs with Windows Media Player on my computers, one runs on Windows Xp and the other is Vista. I've never had to use another codec for any type of video file, except for maybe a couple (I don't think it works for RMVB files). But it runs avi, mkv, mp4, and more.

To be honest, I don't think it does. I don't deal with .rm very often if at all since it's one of the "branded" video files. Same deal with quicktime.

I have Quicktime and RealPlayer installed to keep those files playable if I need to.
