adding subtitles to avi files??

hey i need a knew way to do this as cause my faulty ram my laptop shuts down after running virtualdubmod.

or if u just know a good converter that doesnt mess up ur subs, or change there font/size/colour. (that means super)

anyone??
(plz dont say try this or that, i want to know one that will and does actually work)

atm im forced to using alltoavi and it reduces videos quality to shit

regular virtualdub? lol.

I know this super awesome program called Avidemux, but it seems it doesn't like trying to add subtitles. You can still try it though.

you can figure out how to use it on your own, its easy. there is a subtitle filter.

oh and don't forget megui

Tell me if Avidemux ends up working for you.

For me, it gives me a fatal error half way through when adding subtitles, but when I watch the part that actually gets done, it works great.
Maybe I just don't have enough RAM though.

ohh it works for me but.
im still having technical errors trying to make a hard sub so i can upload to veoh or torrent. know any good programs for that ??

I thought Avidemux did hardsub it.. lol. Are you telling me it didnt?

na it softsubs lol. as soon as that file is removed from the pc the sub file is on, the subs go bye bye

I have a question since this topic has been brought up. What's the difference between hardsubs and softsubs?

ahh.
hardsubs is when the sub is actually part of the video file.
softsubs are just a file that places its self over the video fill so it looks as if its part of the video.

Most hardsubs will be .AVI and most .MKV/.OGM files will be softsubbed
