Default GFX Card help!

i just installed my ati radeon 9800 gfx card into my new computer frame and plugged the blue moniter cable into that, but when i turn on my computer it beeps a lot and says: You have not connected the power extension to your ati radeon 9800 graphics card, please inert to continue

im confused, i plugged my moniter in and my graphics car is in the AGP slot properly

Question No1: how often does the system beeps (please count it - no joke) if you start it (cold boot - power off and on) ?
Question No 2: have you tried to unplug the gfx card and plug it again into agp port?
Question No 3 (if 2 failed): what motherboard do you have?

EDIT:
and WHAT ati radeon 9800 do you have ...

make sure AGP is set to 8x
make sure if you are using a pci-ex power connector that it has a secure 12v rail and the card is getting enough power
make sure the card is set firmly and locked in
and yes count the beeps as it is important

actually i figured out the problem, i need a higher output power cord for my moniter because mine is 100-240 watt and i need a 300-450 watt.

and those things run 100 bucks

100 bucks FOR A FUCKING PLUG

the ati card should be Dvi-D and have a VGA port on it as well. if not, use a Dvi-D to VGA adapter and use your standard VGA cable. the quality wont be what it could but it will work and keep you from having to buy a cable and check out newegg.com or tigerdirect.com for much cheaper cables. 100 dollars seems waaaay too much

FAIL!

The Card needs to be powered by an external power source, not just the motherboard. Make sure it is plugged into your Power Supply Unit (PSU).

Spoiler

If it is properly connected... it may be that your PSU is not powerful to run the card and you will need a stronger one.
