something amazing

i'm looking for an anime with a powerful story, something that just wow's you. something like gurren lagann would fall under this category for myself. it can be anything from mecha to romance to sports, i really don't care. just something with a really good story, oh and overdrive is a really good one for this category, so something like that too.

any suggestions?

idk, the most recent anime that ive watched that the story has just blown me away in is probably zero no tsukaima. i dont want to ruin anything for you but between finding out the backstory of the female lead and then finding out why the male lead came to be in their magic world, why he chooses to stay its just a really great anime, the ending for season 2 is phenomenal and its a great romance as well, would definitely recommend you chcek it out. seasons 1 and 2 are already out and season 3 is about halfway through atm, its still airing and all the new episodes are posted here on zomganime.com

Chobits
Kanon 2006 (for comedy) 2002 (for "drama")
For random Comedy:
Lucky Star
Seto no Hanayome (I guess there is a storyline.)
For good overalls:
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Onegai Teacher
Clannad
Spice and Wolf

^definitely, also Code Geass (if you haven't seen it already) and d grayman. Black Cat, Black Lagoon (both seasons), and Full Metal Panic (all seasons) are also pretty cool.

Tengen Toppa Gurren lagann. One of the best anime ive ever seen. Every thing about it is spectacular.

FMA is one of the best intense dramas ever incorporated into a animation.
Bobobo and Keroro Gunso are my top two comedies, not to great on story though.
Oh I'm watching Nadia: SOBW at the moment, so far it seems like a classic hit.

I can't believe all i read. He said good story. Most of you gave him comedy or some randomn shounen thing. Seriously since when does comedy blow you away and say WoW... and you think differently.

Personaly the only anime that did that for me was probably monster but as they all do , they phial teh endings.

Elfen lied could be close to wow too.

If i had to agree with a few chocies above would be

Death note... kinda let's say

And kanon was utter ending phial with
