Dennou Coil, Noein, Monster, ergo proxy. Ive been recommending these to everyone because I thought all of them were really original, yet few ppl seem to have watched them. Seriously check them out.

*edit* although it's already been mentioned, if u havent watched Evangellion yet then ur missing out.

Definitely Black Lagoon, also Macross is good.
I've only watched macross frontier, which is the latest in the whole macross series, and that was pretty good.
