The magic shocked Raine, but not by much. Its scaly body was now in its air form. It merely turned one massive, human-looking eye toward Makoto and flung an arm at her, catching her in the side and knocking her to the rail of the ship. The magic caused 100 damage, but provoked a counter attack that caused 500 damage.

Makoto is K.O.'d!!!

Seifer growled and ran to Makoto, dropping a Phoenix Down against her forehead. He stood and let the feather take its toll on her bad health, awakening her from conciousness. Seifer turned to Raine, who seemed to be interested only in attacking the thing standing between him and the Summoner.

While raine was distracted with makato Cloud climbed on the fiends back, Then suddenly jumped into the air with both blades in hand an let gravity take its toll.

Still, the beast's skin could not be pierced. In fact, the swords Cloud used broke into pieces after hitting Raine's back. The shards fell to the ocean below, never to be recovered.

Raine turned and smacked Cloud over the back, throwing him back to the ship. Then, as quickly as he'd come, he dived beneath the ocean and returned to the depths.

Seifer coughed lightly. When Raine had dived, he'd left them a present in the form of 10 different giant talon-like projectiles. One had pierced Seifer's left foot, pinning him to the wood of the ship while another had caught him in the weak point of his armor; right beneath the breastplate, directly below his heart. Had it been a few inches higher...

Cloud was sitting his eyes in shock as he looked at his 2 shattered blade. "what do I..I do now" he said stuttering."Damn it after all of that we are still so weak."

Makoto slowly rose to her feet to see the beast was once again gone. She was angry, unable to understand why it was tormenting them so. She cast a glance to Seifer, wanting to express her anger when she saw his condition. Not bothering to say anymore, she quickly went to work, casting her mightiest of healing spell on him, doing whatever she could to mend his wounds.

Though Cure was the only heal spell Makoto had, it didn't work that bad. Seifer pulled out the talons and grumbled lightly, coughing a bit. Cure worked well. His internal organs sealed up. One of his lungs had been punctured, but everything was ok.

Riki looked around and saw his friends on the ground and got scared. Then Riki grabbed 3 arrows and pulled back as hard as he could and shot them at Raine.

As she let off her last Healing spell, she certainly felt winded. Everything that had been going on was starting to take it's toll on her, but she did her best to hide it. She soot up strait, pulled the hood back over her to hide her face and sigh aloud. "Why... Why is it following us so ademantly?" She said exasperatedly. "Why is it so set on tormenting us? I mean, what the hell did we do!?" As she raised her voice she threw her arms into the air, if only to show her exasperation more visually.

((Like I said, he dived beneath the ocean. By the time Ricky's arrows make it from 500 ft to sea level, Raine will have been long gone.))

Seifer shrugged a bit, slowly standing, shaking as he did. "Who knows?"

About that time, Amari walked up to them. "Lady Makoto, we're almost to the island. Please prepare for the cloud lift."

Seifer was about to ask what a 'cloud lift' was, when the ship abruptly stopped, then gently lowered down through the sky back into the water, right next to a pier. Amari steered the anchor as he dropped it, then tied the ship off on the sides of the pier and lowered the gangplank. He stood by it and bowed from the waist up with one hand lowered over above his waist. "Welcome to the Isle of Despair."

Makoto return the bow, if only slightly, and glance out toward the new land they had landed at. She would have to admit that "Isle of Despair" certainly wasn't the warm welcoming names for a place, but who knew? It could have been named that from long ago and just never changed... wishful thinking she was sure... but all the same... She could hope, right?

When they walked ashore, Seifer understood instantly what this place's name was about. "I can sense them...Spirits, tormented beyond repair...Such sadness here...What happened in this place?"

Amari walked with them to the entrance to a cave. "This was once a mighty city that rivaled even Asgard. But something horrible happened...Ever since then, death and deceit have haunted this island...They say that the spirits of the dead will come out at night to drag the living down into the depths of this island's deserted caverns...Souls bent on revenge for their own untimely demise..." He then went back aboard the ship. Not to mention that the entire island was blackened and burnt. Nothing grew, not even a stem of grass.

Seifer shivered a bit. "This place gives me the creeps. What are we here for anyway?"

Amari provided the answer. "There are twin blades within the cavern before you. There is a legend that the weilder of such weapons will become a warrior of twice his previous power...However, if his heart is not in the right place, the blades will destroy him and consume his spirit, adding to their own power. They are cursed weapons...The legends call them such things as "Yin and Yang" and "Black and White". My personal favorite is "Dual Blades". A friend of mine touched them once, and we never saw him again."

Seifer gulped. "Well, Cloud, I guess you'd better come with us anyway..."

Seifer didn't even have to finish his sentence, As soon as cloud heard blades he was onboard for the adventure. " looks like I will have to rely on magic for the time being. and these dual blades of magnificent power, (Reminds me of ronin warriors lol) will destroy you? I guess i will just have to take that risk.
