Seifer's face was intense. He studied the woman, but found no lie in her eyes. So he merely nodded. "I see...How did he-"

"He used a magic weapon, said to be wielded only by holy warriors."

"Holy warriors?"

"Warriors who fight for the justice and light of the world. They use incredible magic and wield swords of immense power. They are sometimes referred to as Crusaders or Paladins."

A Paladin. Now that Seifer thought on it, his father and Alastor had both been Paladins at one time. But Alastor had cut Seifer's father down because he'd gone insane. There was no other cure. The man was berserk, he'd kill anyone...

Seifer sighed softly. "I understand...How does one become a Paladin?"
{Class changes are possible for all characters, once they reach a certain story event or a certain level.}

Hana blinked. "One could easily take the trial to become a novice Paladin. They are not as strong as the full blown thing, but they are still powerful. But you must be a person of this village to become one-" Seifer's heart plummeted. If he could become a Paladin, he could wield a weapon strong enough to destroy Raine and bring the world to Final Fantasy. But that dream was dashed. "...However...I think I can make an exception for you, friend. If it suits you, you may become a Favored One, and become a Paladin of equally-if-not-more-powerful skill. Do you still wish to take this challenge?"

"What are the chances of success?"

"Only 1 out of every million people who take the trial becomes a Paladin, according to our statistics."

"I'll do it."

"Heh. Seifer, the odds are against you. Are you that one in a million person? If possible I'll try too."

Riki walks up. "Sorry to intrupt your confersation but can i borrow some money. They are selling a Dark Bow that i have to have and i'm extremely poor. Oh and what did i just miss?"

One of the guards pulled Riki aside, giving him some money and explaining the situation to him.

Hana looked at Loki and shook her head. "You wield bows too. I'm afraid the weapons of the Paladin are swords." She turned to Seifer. "I suppose it is decided, then...Come with me...Your friends may come as well. The trials are hard to pass on one's own."

Makoto stood at Seifer's Side. "I would have gone to help him no matter what you said." She said with a grin nudging Seifer on the side. "You can do this, I know it." She told him in a light voice. They could do this, she knew it, she wouldn't let them fail... Even if it killed her.

Loki shrugged.

"A bow's as good as any sword. You can't touch me when I have my bow. But sure thing, I'll stick with Seifer and see what happens."

Hana smiled lightly and nodded. "Then go." She flipped a switch and the wall behind her opened up. "Come inside. Favored One. Come and take this trial."

Seifer walked in without hesitation. "Alright then...Ikuzo." He jumped into the wall, then knelt and looked around, drawing his sword. The evil in this place was immensely powerful, with an unquenchably dark aura.

Loki then jumped in thereafter and drew his bow and strung it with an arrow.

Makoto followed suit, staying close to everyone. She held her dagger loosely in her hand as she followed. Just being inside this place made her stomach twist, she knew this place had an awful presence about it, but it would not slow her down. She was ready to face whatever came her way.

When the gro reached the end of the maze, they were confronted with what appeared to be a shining light. Seifer stepped up to it slowly and reached to touch it. The light disappeared, and a massive, dark being appeared in its place.

BOSS FIGHT!!!!

Seifer is so stunned by the monster's sudden appearance, he is stunned for this turn.

{In some fights, a monster will only attack a certain character, for story reasons, of course.}
The unknown beast lifts a clawed hand and grabs Seifer, pulling him toward itself. It tosses him in the air, grabs him with its other hand, and slams him down. Seifer's tensed mind and quick reflexes due to being on an Aqua Ball team allow him to only scratch his elbow as he comes down, causing a mere 5 damage.

{HP increases automatically by 20 everytime you lvl up. MP increases by 10 for more physical characters, and by 40 for mage characters.}
Seifer HP: 75/80

Loki uses Archer's Bane which drastically increases his speed, reloading speed, and damage of his arrows due to a poison now on them.

"Ok i haven't helped in my other fight but now i can help." Riki used Blast. This ability lets him increase the attack speed of the party and increase damage.

Familiar winds swirl up around Makoto, slowly becoming red as time passed. Her eyes closed, mouth speaking silent encantations. Her eyes suddenly open, and she said firmly "Blaze!"

The beast lifts Seifer again, but this time, he slips from its grasp and backflips to the ground, unharmed. NO DAMAGE!!!

The flames roar to life and attack the beast. The flames bring light to the darkness, scaring the monster. It turns away and is burned badly by Blaze. The magic causes 50 damage due to the monster having a 50% weakness to fire attacks.

Knight Attack: Charge Seifer lifts his sword high into the air in a sort of salute. "I swear under oath to strength my compatriots." He brings the sword back into stance. The entire party's attack and defense capabilities have increased by 5.

Seeing this opportunity, she summons up her training, shouting out "ChainSpell!" In a flash, an yellow ensignia marks the ground beneath her, golden air swirling around her. A soft aura surrounds her as she quickly sets of a quick sucession of spells. The first two being 'Blaze' and the Final being 'Cure' which she directs toward Seifer.

((I do hope that using it at this moment is okay. ^^ ))
