((And into the Fire.)) The bbq goes into full swing when there is a knock at the door. "Sasuke will you please get that?" "Sure thing." Sasuke opens the dooronly to find a very scorned Hawkeye. "Major, uh welcome to my..." "Stow it Lt. Where is he?" "Ma-am?" "The Colonal. Where is he?" "Um in my living room. (gulp)" Riza Hawkeye pushes past Sasuke and into the living room. Colonal Mustang sits on the couch laughing with everyone else and then they all stop except for Mustang who hasnt quite caught on yet. "Hey why did you all stop laughing so suddenly? Why the terrified looks? You act as if you have seen a ghost." Hawkeye leans down next to Mustangs ear. "Close but no cigar. I'm much worse than a ghost." Mustang has a look of pure terror in his eyes when he hears Rizas voice. "Riza hi, what are you doing hear?" "I could ask you the samething. Dont you have more paper work to do?" She then looks at Sasuke who is standing over in the corner. "And dont you have sentry duty to night?" "Ma-am, not for another 3 hours." "Well guess what your going to work early." Sasuke put on a sour look, and the major notices. "That is unless you want to cover latrine duty instead." "No ma-am." "Good, then report to Central immediately." Akane looks at Sasuke. "See I told you that you should have invited her." "Yeah your right. Hey seifer wanna come along? I could use the company tonight."

Seifer snickered. They reached Central and Seifer saluted. "I'll take the west, you take the north." he saluted once more and walked away to the east side of Central City.

Sasuke nodded at Seifer and walked off towards the North and began making his rounds. As Sasuke made his rounds he heard someone let out a loud and piercing cry and then silence. "Oh no, the front Gate." Sasuke ran back towards the front Gate only to find someone stooped over the lifeless body of the once cheerful guard that had let Sasuke and Seifer in to make their rounds. Sasuke quickley grabbed a hold of the top of a metal bar and transformed it into a Samurai sword. "So your the next Scar eh? Stand up and come out into the light where I can see you. NOW."

Seifer ran around the other side, cornering the person. He blinked and backed up. "Sasuke-kun, that thing...It's not human..." He brought up his arms, clapped, and wrapped one hand around a pole beside him, placing the other hand on the ground. The concrete below him sunk, and his body became covered in light metallic armor, while the pole transmuted into a long spear. There was a soft groan from the guard, indicating he wasn't dead yet.

The thing hunched over him turned when he noticed the two alchemists, then bounded up to the wall, growling and hissing. His eyes had a lizard-like appearance to them.

Seifer threw the spear, which narrowly missed the being, but did graze his back, dripping blood to the ground. Seifer then jumped and made to kick the beast, which dove off the wall, landed on the ground, and ran away.

Seifer dropped to the ground and sighed. "We got what we need. Sasuke, get this blood sample into Laboratory 12. We'll do research on it in the morning." He grabbed a few tubes from his pocket and scooped a few drops into them, then turned and walked away.

~The morning after~

Colonel Mustang looked at both of them. "Are you sure that is what you saw? A lizard-like creature?"

Seifer nodded. "Yes sir. It was hunched over the guard...We just barely managed to get some blood samples. Lab 12 is taking a look at them right now, sir."

About that time, Ed walked in with Al at his heels. Both stood at attention. Ed spoke first. "Colonel, I think we saw something like that as well. Whatever it was looked wounded. It was clawing at its back like it was hurt...A chimera, maybe, sir?"

Mustang stroked his chin in thought. "Maybe, Edward, maybe...In any case, we must be vigilant. All State Alchemists are to be fully prepared should this thing attack again. Lock all doors and step up your patrols to an hour earlier than usual. As for you, FullMetal, I need you and Alphonse to check up on a report in Resembool about a strange figure wandering around at night...."

Ed nodded and left immediately.

Mustang turned to Sasuke and Seifer. "Any questions, boys?"

Sasuke stepped forward and spoke. "I have a suggestion sir. With this thing on the loose attacking people, I would like to suggest that we post guards at as many residences as possible. To protect the people. And Whose ever residence we cannot place a guard at we have them move to a guarded residence temperarilly until we can stop this thing."

The Colonel considered the option, then nodded. "Move as you see fit. But if another life is lost because of that thing, we're going to have a hell of a time on our hands with the press."

Seifer nodded. "Yes sir." He turned and left the building, going to his classroom to teach. The lesson for the day: Plant Alchemy; how to bring dead or ill plants to better condition."

Sasuke began working with local athorities and the State to begin moving anyone who could not stay at their own house into other residences that could be guarded without stretching forces to thin. At first the people put up a struggle but soon agreed even though they did not understand why they were being moved. "Everyone please calm down we are just taking precautionary measures for your safety." One of the civilians started asking a 1000 questions. "But what are we not safe from? Will you please tell us?" "I am sorry but I am under strict orders not to reveal anything at this time. Please you will have to trust me when I say that this is for the best right now." The crowd grew more anxious and nervous. Soon another civilian started causing problems. "Its a lie. The State is trying to lure us all together so that they can enslave us. DOWN WITH THE DOGS OF THE MILITARY." Sasuke pulled a State Alchemist aside. "Go get Colonal Mustang, Major Armstrong, and Captain Okai and let them know whats going on here and get them here on the double." "Yessir. Right away."
