Well, in any case, myanimelist.net is more of like a reference, since it will still be the forum members voting, it will be decidedly different than animelist. And since there will be multiple categories for voting, ie least well known, this will probably lessen the bias. But any voting scheme is biased, albeit some maybe less, but its unavoidable.

Side note: Does anyone know why Teggan Toppan Gurran Lagann is so good (probl mispelled) but its rated really highly. Someone's who's seen it, give me a heads up?

I think you misunderstood. He's saying he will do his best to not be biased. So that the awards are more fair. Anyways, there are plenty of people that rate stupidly for stupid reasons on myanimelist. And the ratings and popularity of a show on myanimelist are different. One is from the actual 'votes' as you called them.. and one is from x show being watched y times.
Lastly, the awards will be given based on the opinions of the people here at zomg, not GW's opinion alone, nor whatever show is ranked as #1 on myanimelist.

thank you for understanding my point, the reason I made the note that I'm a harsh rater is that I don't base my ratings on wether or not I like the anime I go in specific fields

Music, Animation, StoryLine, Raw Emotional Hooks, and a few other areas. I've been told that whatever I recommend is good by quite a few ppl each with different taste

I don't give it a high rating if I like it so I'm very unbiased, I loved Ayashi no Ceres and it got into my top 5 favs, but had to give it a 7.4 as a final grade because of animation

I gave Elfen Lied an 8.2 as a max grade because the music was problementary although I loved that anime as well

aye, some of Elfen Lied's music was pretty weird, though I loved Lilium and the intro's artwork.
On another note; being unbiased like that is fine, as long as you make sure you let people know 'This was in my top faves, but the animation took it's score down,' -which you are doing now. If ya didn't, people'd get the wrong idea, and think the show wasn't as good as it actually was. ^_^

Ah, yes!

Even if I'm a big fan of a certain series, I rate it based off the storyline, plot, etc rather than how much I like it.

ya, Lilium was awesome, but other music could've used big improvement also it had a few emotonal hooks that grew rusty after some time (unlike Ayashi no Ceres, that anime kept placing new thick ones, certain ones even almost got me crying which is a miracle) Elfen Lied was originally using Fear, Pity, Sorrow, Hope, and Gore based Fear as its emotional hooks but alotta them just rusted away over time

Really? I thought the emotional hooks were fine. If you got tired of them after only 13 episodes... D:! I'm sure they would have told the story differently if there was more episodes, though.
I'm not sure about the extra Fear, or about Pity. Maybe another hook while Nyu was around? Also, towards the end, things changed quite a bit, didn't they?

well, I'll get to work on it as soon as I finish the new series pg design, it's a pain because I'm having to work with all 3 types of coding that I know (css, html, and java) and nobody else knows how to work with java codes on staff >.>
