It was a red day. It was 12:00 in the morning, on June 5th of a year long forgotten. Adrian Faerenheights Tepes, half-human half-vampire son of Vlad Tepes Dracula, ran at high speed along a desperate road, seeking his mother. Lisa Faerenheights was tied to a cross. People were shouting at her in town, as the torches were lit to burn her.

The sight horrified Adrian forever. He looked on and screamed at the crowd, "Leave her alone! She has done nothing wrong! Why do you torture an innocent woman!?"

The crowd turned back to him. "This woman used witchcraft! Witchcraft is forbidden. Kill the witch!" But that wasn't the true case. Lisa had simply been healing wounded soldiers. Looking to her son, she smiled. "It's alright, Alucard. If my death can save the lives of others, then let it be so."

Adrian, better known as Alucard, shook his head. "Mother, no! Please, no! I'll save you Mother!" Lisa smiled again at him. "No, Alucard. Remember my last words."

Alucard looked up at her, tears in his eyes. "...Yes, Mother..."

"Do not hate humans. If you can not live with them, then do them no harm. For theirs is already a hard lot." Lisa looked upon Alucard one last time. "And tell your father...I will love him for all eternity."

It was these words that would haunt Alucard for centuries, even as he went to Castlevania a second time, in the hopes of stopping his father and ridding the world of this menace, once and for all.
